Anne Frank’s bedroom was a place of refuge for the young Jewish girl and her family during their time of hiding from the Nazis in Amsterdam during World War II. Located in the annex of the Prinsengracht 263, Anne Frank's bedroom was both a safe haven and a place of solace for the teenaged Anne as she wrote in her diary and tried to make sense of the world around her. It is one of the most recognizable places in modern history, and it is remarkable to consider the impact that this small room had on the life of a teenage girl and the people around her.
During the two years that the Frank family spent in the annex, Anne's bedroom was her own private space where she could retreat and express her thoughts. The bedroom was located at the back of the house, near the entrance of the annex. It was small and sparsely furnished, but it provided Anne with the privacy and comfort she needed during a very difficult time. The walls of the bedroom were covered with photos, drawings, and postcards, providing Anne with an emotional connection to the outside world and to her family. As she wrote in her diary, Anne found solace in her bedroom, and it was also a place of creativity for her. She kept a small library of books and wrote stories about her life in hiding.
